I remember during one of my visits at Jack Newman's clinic that a mother
came in who had been ill with a high fever and now her milk supply had
dramatically decreased. She'd successfully breastfeed at least one previous
baby if I recall correctly and said that everything had been going well even
when she got ill, but now that she was over the illness her milk had almost
disappeared. Jack said that he's seen this before in cases where a mother
has had a fever - clearly it doesn't happen every time when a mother has had
a fever, but it does some times. I think he prescribed domperidone for this
mom, but I was not around for any follow-up.
