OK, so some people think that the rights of those who are offended by
breastfeeding in public need to be respected. That woman should breastfeed
discreetly, or go in another room, or not go out in public with their
babies, or pump and take breast milk in a bottle so they don't offend anyone.

Does this line of reasoning also apply to those who are "offended" by
African-Americans daring to eat dinner at the local country club or (gasp)
move into the neighborhood? To those who are "offended" by children with
Down Syndrome or in wheelchairs in their child's school classroom? To those
who are "offended" by women in medical school, vet school, law school,
fighter pilot training courses? To those who are "offended" by women
ministers? To those who are "offended" by people with handicaps being given
reasonable accommodations at the university and in the workplace?

I'm sorry, but I don't put these people's rights not to be offended on the
same level as the rights of people of all skin colors, mental and physical
abilities, and of both sexes to have equal opportunities. There will always
be a few people who are offended by whatever, including breastfeeding in
public -- but they need to get over it, not be catered to. That is, of
course, assuming that people *want* a culture/society where women can
breastfeed their children wherever they want to without being harrassed.
