Just got a call from the mom I wrote about some time ago whose 2-month
old refused to open wide enough for a good latch. Thanks to Pam
Morrison and I know at least one other, whose name I cannot now
remember, who encouraged me that with patience the baby could learn.
Well, with finger feeding alternated at times with a bottle with a soft,
"fat," slow-flow nipple, she did learn. Mom says she has been
breastfeeding well for a long time.

Mom has shooting pains in her breast during feedings and for 1 ½ hours
afterward which nothing relieves. She says the nipple is covered with
white. I had told her earlier that the shooting pains sounded like
yeast and reiterated it today. She had finally gone to the doctor. She
said she put it off because she was afraid he might do something to make
it hurt more. She says he told her before looking at the breast that it
was stretched ligaments and she would just have to put up with it until
she decides to wean. (Sounds to me like he thinks this should be soon.
Baby is now 3-4 mo. old.) She plans to see another doctor.
