Recently questions have arisen about pumps in differnet countries. This
information was also discussed on the net a few months ago. Options for mothers
leaving the USA would be:

1. Some of the newer pumps with plugs on the Market have Switching Power
Supplies (SPS) These power supplies automaticly sense the voltage and hertz and
adjust themselves automaticly. You can determine this by calling the
manufacturer or looking at the bottom of the Pump. The pumps usually will list
the voltage and hertz or the range. You want to see a 110V-240V, 50hz-60Hz
designation. But call the manufacturer to be sure.

2. Some other Purchasable pumps use separate transformers. By having the
correct transformer you can adapt to the local country. Manufacturers that are
international in nature will have several transformers available. Call the
manufacturer for more information

3. Some pumps work on Batteries. Those that use commercial available batteries
such as AA can be purcahsed vitually anywhere in the world in major cities. If
it is a rechargable system check with the manufacturer for more exact
information. Rechargable systems may have more exacting requirements for
electrical input.

4. Local Availability of Pumps is another option. However, the types of pumps,
accessory kits, efficiency cost and other factors may be unknown in the
particular area where the mother may be traveling or moving to. Also the instant
availability of pumps should be examined. If the mother needs a pump she should
not assume 24 hour availability in other countries. After a long trip it may be
difficult to quickly locate a pump. Some pump companies are international in
nature and a call to the head office could give you more information.
