Pat says,

have a SECA that I am happy with, model #334 1321008. Gives a good
general idea. Not sure if good to 2 g. but I don't tend to do before and
after feed measures. About $250 US. Pat in SNJ

At the risk of being a total Philistine here, why do we have to have a
scale that weighs to 2 grams to do ac/pc weights (unless we are in a NICU and
doing these on preterm infants to whom 2 grams is an issue)?

Does it really matter in doing ac/pc weights in our home offices or on a
home visit if the baby took 26 ml or 29 ml at the breast? How much will
that 3 ml change what we are going to recommend to the mom? Or if the baby
took 92 ml vs 102 ml? Again -- how is that going to change things?

If we expect a baby to take 76 ml or thereabouts (average amount per feed
according to Kent, 2007), and he takes 25, then we have something to be
concerned about.

So -- why not use the SECA scale for ac/pc weights?

Inquiring minds want to know.
