I wonder why so many of these women are going long periods without nursing
in the first place.  Wouldn't this belief about milk "spoiling" in the
breasts be a good opportunity to encourage frequent nursing and to teach
mothers to pump their breasts while not nursing?  This way they would keep
up their milk supplies, they could save their "unspoiled" milk that they
have pumped and feed it to their babies as needed, and would decrease
their use of abm.  This may be one way to validate the cultural belief and
still get better breastfeeding outcomes.  Hope this helps, Alicia.
