Hi,

Sotalol is a betablocker; in such a young person, probably used for some
sort of arrythmia. According to Hale, Sotalol is L3 (moderately safe),
approved by the AAP for use in breastfeeding mothers. No pediatric concerns
reported via milk, but watch for sedation, bradycardia (slow heart rate),
low blood pressure or weakness.
Other alternatives for the mom would be propranolol (a widely used, well
known betablocker. It is also L3 but many many mothers have used it while
nursing and no negative effects have been reported) or metoprolol.

Warmly,

Kika Baeza
