Dear Friends:
I did some research on this topic a long time ago, and was dismayed to
learn that about 20% of babies get colic, no matter how they are fed. I
wanted the bf babies to be perfect and never have colic.
Sheila Kitzinger, in her book, the Crying Baby, found that infant colic
related to maternal stress during pregnancy.
There is nothing definite published that I know about. What have other
people found? What about in other cultures? In the Continuum Concept, the
author did not report any colic. She found that no baby ever spit up or threw
up, unless ill. Perhaps being carried all the time reduces pressure on the
pylorus?
    Warmly,
