I am interested in hearing perpectives on the ethical and legal issues
surrounding IBCLCs carrying herbal galactaogoues and
herbal/alternative yeast treatments, such as gentian violet, grapefruit
seed extract, and tincture of myrrh.

I know some private practice IBCLCs do this and others steer clear, but I
am unclear of how to make a decision about this that falls within our code
of ethics and standards of practice. I *know* we can't sell
pharmaceuticals such as domperidone!

I would love to have on hand all these alternative options i often
recommend, simply to fascilitate things for new mothers, so i don't have to
say "ok, go buy this here, and that there, etc. etc.) I don't care about
making money on the stuff, just recooping costs and having it available for
convenience. Any thoughts on this practice? i'd love to hear from private
practice IBCLCs who do and those who do not carry such "remedies."

Thanks!
