A mom has asked me for information on breastfeeding with a helmet. Her
doctor was concerned that he could not feel a soft spot at 1 and 2 months
and baby was evaluated at U of M a couple of times. They do not believe
that there is premature fusion of the plates of the skull but are not
completely certain. There is some narrowing of the forhead and some
elongation of the back of the head, according to the doctors but mom does
not perceive it, herself. One of the doctors has recommended helmet use to
see if would work to change the shape and the mom is concerned about the
impact of breastfeeding and bonding. Baby is 5 months old.

I have two questions. Does anyone know how successful CST might be in this
situation and does anyone have experience with helmets that could reassure
this mom?

Thank-you,
Laura Spitzfaden LLLL, IBCLC
