I have suffered sickness from eating raw fish. It wasn't sushi but a blue
marin steak that was raw in the middle and caught 4 days earlier (I was at
a 4 star restaraunt BTW). I complained and the waiter told me it had to be
cooked that way or it was too dry. I believed him. On the way home dh and
I got quite ill. My MIL called the restaraunt and chewed them out royally
(they asked to talk to us and my MIL said "they cannot talk to you! they
are sick! if you want to talk to people after they eat there do not serve
them raw fish!").

My nursling was 16 months old then, and nursing for probably 75-80% of her
calories. More like 90% some days. It didn't even occur to me not to
nurse her. She had no ill effects, her only complaint was my noisy
vomiting while she was trying to nurse to sleep at night ;-) I was sick
for 4 days BTW.

Believe it or not, I still eat sushi. Delicious.
