Can anyone help with these queries please:

1)A woman, who weaned 16 months ago, has just had uncomfortable breasts and
massaged them, only to get a few drops of *something*. It was a yellowish
oily fluid, not sweet. Also separated, "like salad dressing", ie the fluid
had clear and opaque parts. We are concerned, since one of the symptoms of
breast cancer is an unusual discharge from the nipples. Obviously she has
made an appointment with the doctor, but I am wondering if anyone from
Lactnet has had experience with this. Could it possibly be a retained
ability to produce milk ("colostrum?") after so many months of not
breastfeeding? What kind of discharge indicates cancer?

This mother is also taking anti-inflammatories for fibromyalgia - this
affliction was also brought up on a recent Digest. I haven't seen any
replies about a hormonal connection between breastfeeding and "aches and
pains", although this is a rather different case, with the fibromyalgia
occuring after weaning. I found this interesting, as I always felt
healthier while breastfeeding (or perhaps had less time to worry about
myself!), but did notice a new tendency for joint pain/weakness.

2) Laurie Wheeler wrote on 13/10 about "Business, Babies and the Bottom
Line" put out by the Washington Business Group on Health. Is it a short
paper or book and where can I get a copy? Someone I know wants to persuade
her company to set up an on-site creche. There are 4 breastfeeding mothers
who would make use of it, all of whom are finding the long hours of
separation from their babies detrimental to the breastfeeding relationship.
Does anyone know of other useful articles? While we think the company will
be amenable to the idea, we would feel better if we were well prepared for
any argument.

Thanks,
Jacquie, Zimbabwe
