Originally, children who were growth hormone deficient were given human
growth hormone harvested from human cadavers (some of which were now known
to have been from people who died of Creutzfeld-Jacob Disease). In the mid
1980s, research scientists figured out how to manufacture human growth
hormone in the laboratory. I do not believe it is from genetically
engineered living creatures of any kind.
