I went out grocery shopping and came home after 20/20 (television show) was
over. My friend had called before it had started and told my husband to video
the segment.

The topic was about a teenage mom and how breastfeeding (or lack of
breastmilk) killed her baby. Elizabeth Baldwin was on the show as well as
Marianne Neiffert.

The mom had gone to Lamaze classes. Do they not have any education on
breastfeeding in that program? Never in the show did they talk what to look
for to see if a breastfed baby was getting enough milk. Or ways to increase
milk production.

But in this mother's case she had a BREAST REDUCTION! Was the nipple moved
(free-nipple technique) or a pedicle technique? These were not questions
anyone asked. This was not pointed out until the very end of the segment.
Should I be surprised by this???

I answer calls on the LLL 800 line as well as many local calls and I am
constantly go over what to look for in a HEALTHY newborn. If anything sounds
out of the ordinary I recommend seeing the pediatrician for a weight check and
evaluation.

EVERY pregnant mother should attend breastfeeding classes or go to La Leche
League meetings PRIOR to her birth.
Sorry to vent about this.....
