hi all, FYI April 7 is World Health Day, the theme is Invest in the
FUture:
Support Safe Motherhood.  The Am Assn for World Health, which serves "as
a
voice of opinion to sustain US participation in solving international
health
problems through governmental and voluntary channels {and} as the US
committee
to the WOrld Health Org and the Pan American Health Org" put out a nice
trifold brochure to encourage participation which says *nothing* about
breastfeeding or breastfeeding support.

My note to them follows, you may want to do one too.

Dear AAWHstaff,

 I have not yet visited your website to see your resource booklet, but I
hope
it has more mention of breastfeeding as protective of mother and infant
health
than the Invest in the Future brochure.  While it is not part of
pregnancy per
se, it is a significant part of safe motherhood and plays a significant
role
in maternal and infant morbidity, *and* mortality.

Please consider including a mention of breastfeeding support in future
World
Health Day advertising.  Thanks for your work in supporting motherhood.
