 Deb:  Being 5 months postpartum, it is unlikely but certainly possible
that this mother has an ectopic pregnancy.  This might result in a negative
pregnancy test yet still have these symptoms.  It's much more likely that
this is either PMS-related, or even more likely that it's yeast or
vaso-spasms.  I vote for yeast even without visible symptoms.  Have you
done a full pregnancy and birth history even though they're 5 months pp?
How about a diet analysis?  Sometimes a simple switch in diet patterns or
even laundry detergent/softener can cause major nipple sensitivity.
