I don't usually make a big thing of it in general teaching, esp. pre-natal;
I might touch on it briefly as an explanation for why it's not a good idea
to time feeds or yank the baby off one breast after only a few minutes of
sucking to put him on the other side (advice still typically given in the
local hospital, and still a pretty commonly-held notion about "how to BF").
Depending on the questions, feedback, etc. I get, I might use an example of
how a person might feel if they were hungry, got a light soup as a first
course, and then instead of being allowed to go on to the main course were
just given more soup, and then, when they were still really hungry for the
main part of the meal but maybe feeling kind of bloated from so much soup,
it was all cleared away. Or I might use the "skim milk vs. ice cream"
analogy. Depends on who & what...

But I generally only get into it much if a woman is having a problem that I
think is r/t hindmilk-foremilk imbalance, or if she's following a
timed-by-clock-not-baby pattern of nsg. I think it's really important to
make nsg. sound as simple and rule-free as possible, unless there are
particular issues that are interfering.
