"At approx 5 weeks of age, baby was vomiting blood. Spent 5 days in the hospital with many tests and no conclusive results. No blood in stool. Stools were still yellow and seedy until formula started. Blood in lungs and eyes. Awaiting results of allergy test - expected in 2 weeks."

I have only been immersed in the allergy world for about 20 months, but I have never heard of a food allergy manifesting itself like this in an infant. Has anyone else? Blood in the vomit, lungs & eyes but having normal, blood free bm's strikes me as very unusual. Blood in the stool would be a much more common symptom in an infant. And as Jessica mentioned in cases of allergy there are typically accompanying symptoms such as "colic", eczema or other skin rashes, persistent diaper rash, ring around the anus, "cradle cap" that won't go away, etc. Has mom observed any of this in her babe?

I'm intrigued now. Has anyone else ever observed a case like this? What could potentially cause those symptoms? And why on earth would the answer to all of this be formula?!?
