I am with Kathy on this one. I tell moms that baby
cereal is not really necessary, and follow the same
progression as Kathy recommends, except that I prefer
to suggest apple or pear sauce for babies less than a
year old, rather than avocado. 

If a mom feels she must use baby cereal and doesn't
want to use either her own milk or water to mix it, I
would prefer to see her using formula as opposed to
yogurt. Even though I am definitely not a formula fan,
I think it is a more appropriate food for a
6-month-old than yogurt.
