Cheryl, in my personal opinion, the best course is for you to get a new
doc!  This one sounds terribly insensitive and completely lacking in
concern for your feelings and opinions.

1) checking thyroid should be part of your yearly physical exam anyway
2) you had to wait 3 hours for him to come finish the delivery, with you
greiving!!!

3) There are many things to consider when a woman suffers from multiple
miscarriages, including testing for antinuclear antibodies.  You would
probably be better off with a fertility specialist rather than giving
this man the right to choose if you will have more children or not by
simply not investigating the cause of your difficulties.
