>Most of my tips about discreet nursing aren't about hiding exposed skin.
>If that were all that mattered, the covering blanket would suffice.

>I smiled when I read this. On a Saturday morning two weeks ago I was
>working in a mall store front we were converting to a community early
>childhood literacy space. From my location I could see the benches
>stretching up the mall. Throughout the morning they held a succession of
>young families with mom nursing her baby and dad either talking with her
>(and frequently feeding her) or talking with his friends or playing with
>an older child. At one point about 11am ALL of the benches had a nursing
>mother (or two) on them. The babes were of all ages, the moms of
>aboriginal (north american indian), black, asian and white descent. NO one
>walking by seemed to bat an eye. The degree they covered up also varied.
>Most wore a t-shirt or a tank top and just pulled it up and fed. A few
>used a blanket but mainly to wrap the baby. They certainly didn't seem to
>be hiding. Occasionally one had a blanket over her shoulder but these
>seemed to be the newest of moms with the smallest of babes. The ones with
>8 and 9 month old babes just fed pretty much in the open. Most of these
>moms were low income and young as the local mall is not a hangout for the
>wealthy but there were a few middle class moms too. It was really
>amazing. The moment when I looked up and saw every bench with nursing
>moms... at least 8 of them.... just made me beam... Especially after the
>usual weeks of frustration and 'crisis' that seem to be my work.
and yes this is in North America..... If you looked above the breastfeeding
moms and their families you looked into the local Walmart.

>I suggest women never use a blanket over one shoulder to hide the baby's
>nursing, at least not here in North America where the only people who use
>a blanket over one shoulder are those who are trying to hide the fact thay
>they are nursing.
