My good friend had a baby with this diagnosis. It was not recognized when he
was first born. She mothered him as she had her other children: kept him
skin-to-skin and in a sling almost all the time, nursed him very frequently,
slept with him alongside her. He almost never cried. He nursed well and
gained weight normally. The only thing we noticed was that he was a bit less
active than her other children. He was diagnosed at about 4 months and had
the surgery 2 months later and made an excellent and rapid recovery. He's 13
now, is healthy, active and intelligent.
