Anne and MaryAnne,
Couldn't agree more with this summary of why things go wrong with
physicians and breastfeeding advice.

Just like to add one ting. I think this "generalization of expertise" works
both ways. Parents have got to get a clue on this as well. And the general
public, for that matter. We have got to stop expectig our MDs to have a
"cure" for everything from the common cold to AIDS. We have to accept
responsibility for our own health.

At the same time, doctors need to refer...which is what Cathy said earlier.
