Hi All,
It has been a while since I have posted to Lactnet but wanted to share with
you something I did last September that involves WBW in a rather unique way
(Jaye style...). :)

Last September I got my first tattoo! I had been wanting one for years and
finally 'went for it". I chose something that was very special and held
great meaning to me (especially since I'll be wearing it for the rest of my
life!). The tattoo is on the back of my left shoulder and is my BF Business
logo. My logo is a heart in which 2 helpers stand behind a mom nursing her
baby. It is a line drawing specially designed for me about 6 years ago.
There is a heart of wildflowers around my logo. I know that there are those
who do not agree with tattoos, and that is fine - but this one I sport as
much as I can (which is not difficult since it so so darn HOT here lately,
tank tops are a must!). I frequently get comments about how beautiful it is
(very colorful and pretty) and people ask what does it mean and "that looks
like a nursing mom! Is it?". Of course, I share the meaning behind it and
thus share the importance of breastfeeding as well. I have never had anyone
ever make a negative comment about it - only comments of "Wow! That is
really cool!" and the like. A funny: I had one young pregnant mom
(tattooed herself) decide to take my business card and really consider BF
because she had thought Lactation Consultants were "stodgy old ladies" who
had no clue about the "real" world of the younger generation! So, if an LC
could get a tattoo and be "real" then maybe BF was a good idea for the
younger gen too. Don't ask about her logic, but whatever works! She did
call me right after the baby was born - was having difficulties and we fixed
it. She is still exclusively BF and is encouraging all her young friends
(in their 20's. - geesh I feel old! I'm only 36!) to BF!

Since I don't own enough BF clothing or jewelry this is a nice permanent way
for me to 'advertise' BF in my own special style. ;)

Warmly,
Jaye
the tattooed LC...
