Professor Walter Willett in the September 2003 Harvard Health newsletter on
page 6 (which cannot unfortunately be accessed online) answers questions
about the food scene in the US. In his next to the last paragraph he
answers this question:

How about dairy foods?

His answer:

I think there is reason to be concerned, and there are a lot of unanswered
questions. Because of selective breeding and the fact that cows are now
milked when they're pregnant, milk these days is loaded with hormones. I
think dairy foods may be a problem aside from the saturated fat content.
Drinking milk to lower fracture risk-there's just not any good data to
support that.

My questions

What is his proof about the hormones?

Does it correlate to breastfeeding when pregnant?

Anyone in the diary industry still on the list to comment?
