I have no experience with this use of inositol, but  do know that it is
frequently used and frequently successful in it's use as part of the
orthomolecular treatment for OCD.   And we're not talking small doses
but multiple grams and no apparent side effects.

orthomolecular just means 'right molecule'...but in use it just means
using substances that naturally occur *in the body* for treatment of
various disorders.
