"A 6 day old, near term baby who had lost weight: the peds told mom that
she was to breastfeed, and after each feed alternate between giving the baby
3 ounces of pedialyte and three ounces of formula."

What is with this suggestion? I would love to see the research.

MY 'shake my head moment of the week':

Ped in my area recommended alternating pedialyte/AIM to one of my moms
this week because she had a fever. He told her that she MUST pump and
dump until the fever was gone because her milk was full of toxins! Both girls
also have fevers and colds. She gave her 8 week old girls a bottle of AIM (first
time) and then called in. They were both absolutely miserable, lots of tummy
problems. Their congestion was also much worse after the AIM. And (as of
this AM) one of the girls hasn't pooped since Sunday!!
