Posting with Permission as this is something new to me and not finding it
in the literature!
On sept 22 I had my fourth baby. Breastfeeding is going well as far as her
eating a getting plenty. The issue began back in March 2017 I was 20 weeks
pregnant. I had a very bad lump and an Infection coming out of my nipple.
We treated with antibiotics but nothing seemed to help. They did a biopsy
on it and it came back negative. Everything seemed to be going ok except
the lump never really went away and when I started breast feeding the lump
had no place to go but through the skin so I am on my 3 rd skin eruption.
They sent me to another specialist and that is when the diagnosed me with a
rare form of mastitis. During all of this I have been contacting a
lactation consultant on the regular and she has helped me to the best of
her knowledge None of the doctors are sure if breastfeeding is good or bad
but to heir on the side of caution they suggest that I don’t nurse. I was
hoping if you have had any experience with this or any sound advice. Of
course I want to do what is best for my baby. Once again, I am sorry to ask
out of the blue but I know you are knowledgeable in your field and don’t
want to quit nursing if it is no harm to either one of us.
