Hello, it has been a long time since I posted, didn't realize how little
time there is for e-mail after baby number 4 was born. In regards to
children's perceptions of what breasts are for - it reminds me of an a
conversation my older son had with his cousin. They were playing outside
and on their way back into the house my daughter's Barbie doll was by the
door (naked as usually - so hard for young hands to get the clothes on those
dolls)and also had ants crawling on it. The cousin (a boy the same age who
was never breast fed - and is the youngest child) was making a comment about
where the ants were on the doll - laughing and such. My son (having been
around nursing babies and toddlers since my first LLL meeting when he was
almost 3) said, "Yes, they must be hungry" very matter of factly. In his
mind breasts are for food - even if they are on a plastic doll.
