For what it's worth, in our NICU in Alberta, Canada, we store fresh breastmilk for 48 hours in the fridge (as long as there are no additives such as fortifier or electrolytes, otherwise it's 24 hours). Thawed from frozen breastmilk is good for 24 hours hours in the fridge. And that is for both our level 2 as well as level 3 babies.

I don't have access to my work's policy on storage, but I can check this weekend for you if you want references to take back to your NICU. If anything I thought we were on the conservative side. I know that some nurses tell people going home (with healthy term babies) that it's good for 2 days thawed, and 3 days fresh at home!
