Brenda:  The mom is probably experiencing a proliferation of capillaries
which will supply the milk ducts with their source of nutrients.  Ask if she
also has spider veins there...very common.  These new vessels will bruise
more easily or at least they show it.  If the bruising is a problem, she may
try Bromelain (250-400 mg TID).  There are no contraindications to this
pineapple derived supplement in preg or lact.  It works for bruising as well
as inflammation, and  many use it for GI disturbances.
