I've seen this four times. Twice (sisters) the culprit was soy, even though the first time mom claimed to be eating nothing but chicken and rice (she was getting snippy at me by then) when there was an "oh, by the way, I'm putting margarine on the rice. But it's corn oil margarine." When she read the ingredients from the package, there was the soy. Three years later, same symptoms. Both girls grew out of the dairy and soy allergy/intolerance by age three. Her health care professional family had been urging her to put the first baby on formula. Both babies were happy and well when mom eliminated ALL dairy and soy. Your post did not mention gluten-elimination. That was the last culprit for a mom whose baby had dairy, soy, corn, egg, gluten intolerance. The fourth one was an atypical case of cystic fibrosis, and the baby sickened and died soon after being put on the elemental formula, against the mother's wishes. (Not in my town, not in my care, fyi)
