I think we need to take an informal
>poll to see if long-term breastfed children have as many "terrible twos" and
>temper tantrums as opposed to short-term breastfeeders or bottle-fed
>children.

My older daughter nursed until she was 3 1/4 and never had a temper tantrum.
She says that she did, but they just didn't look like the usual ones. She
says she knew how to get what she wanted without throwing herself on the
floor. I remember her as a pretty easy-going kid, but maybe she "managed"
her mom well.

The second daughter, Alison, didn't invade Lia's space until Lia was 4 years
old. She nursed 'till 4 and also didn't have tantrums. She was more even
tempered than Lia.

Perhaps the fact that they didn't have competition before 3 1/2 and 4 helped
their equilibium. However there are disadvantages to their being so far
apart in age. There is no perfect way to do this job, is there? But
breastfeeding helps no matter what else happens.
