I was told by a Gerber rep last Spring that they were going to discontinue
making this. I saw a mom recently who had a red rashy looking ring around both
nipples and areola when she took off her Soothies to show me the nipple
damage she was seeking help for. (Yes, we fixed the latch first.) She was using
the Gerber nipple "stick" because she thought it had no lanolin and she was
"allergic" to lanolin. I'm going to check the Gerber website to see if it is
listed. For healing, we switched to Ameda Comfort Gels and nothing else on the
nipples. I have been suggesting a drop of olive oil on "dry skin" if mom is
allergic to lanolin. But I thought that Lansinoh was purified in a way to
reduce allergic reaction?
