A question for those of you who are experts in lactation physiology: Can
the onset of lactogenesis II be hastened? Some folks around me emphasize
early, frequent breastfeeding and/or nipple stimulation as a way to speed
the *beginning* of mature milk production. However, I remember reading
somewhere that the frequent stimulation affects eventual milk *volume* but
it does not impact the *timing/start* of that milk production (since the
hormonal shift responsible for the milk production was already set in
motion with the birth of the placenta). What do you think?
