I was dismayed by the recent report by Jeff Harder regarding a Niagra Falls
woman who was nursing her 2 toddlers in public at the local YMCA. When are
we going to stop bashing women for doing something that is in the best
interest of her children-nourishing and nurturing her children at the
breast!?

Just because some ill-informed people believe nursing a toddler isn't
"normal" doesn't mean they are right! Western society needs to get over
the premise that breasts are for selling products or giving men pleasure.
Women have breasts to feed children-plain and simple. Go abroad and you
will see women nursing toddlers in public as a normal part of everyday
life. Yet, when an American or Canadian woman nurses her child in public,
it smacks of ridicule, lawsuits and a poorly researched article by Mr.
Harder. What does this say about western society? What does this say
about the value of women and children? Perhaps Mr. Harder should talk to
people who are in the know about such topics-nursing mothers, lactation
consultants, physicians and nurses. Doing your homework and getting the
facts is what journalism is all about.

Who's the real boob in this story, Mr. Harder?

Sincerely,

Maurenne Griese
