Please register your support for women to have access to independent
midwifery care. Women deserve to have the choice and midwives in private
practice who attend homebirth are very skilled practitioners and do not
deserve to be deregistered.

It doesn't matter if you personally choose to homebirth or not. The
government is making it illegal for midwives to register by 2010 if they
cannot secure indemnity insurance, which the governement will not help with.
Midwives in private practice are so few in number that it isn't affordable
for insurers to take on or for midwives to access. However insurance has
nothing to do with the skill competency of midwives. They are highly skilled
experts in their field. They do not deserve to loose their livlihood. And
women deserve to have the choice as to who will be their primary care
provider.
