I think maybe sighing while nursing is a carry-over from sighing while pregnant.  I remember doing a lot of sighing as I hefted my heavy body in and out of chairs.  I also remember being driven crazy when a fellow committee member moaned and groaned every time she sat or got up and she was only three months pregnant (and I was at least six or seven months myself). It drove me crazy to hear her!  Of course, I was doing it myself and I think I have finally stopped the habit after 20+ years of being pregnant or nursing. 
Sigh, maybe I haven't...
