A local pump distributor sent a rep to see me last month. I thought she
was very sensitive to the fact that I was a lactation consultant, didn't
offer me any bottle information, and we parted on good terms. However when
I looked at the sample packs I was supposed to give the breastfeeding
mothers, I was upset at the catalogue and the brochure on pacifiers, both of
which violated the Code of Marketing of Breast Milk Substitutes. So I wrote
and complained.

Now they've come back to me and asked if I could edit their catalogue so
that it doesn't violate the Code, and I said I would if they paid me......
And that's my ethical question. I'm not sure if I want them to be able to
say that the information has been passed by an IBCLC, when in reality I will
have no control over what actually gets into the catalogue.

Should I extricate myself from this as gracefully as I can? I really want
mothers to have the correct information, not puffed up ads......Anything I
could write into the contract to protect myself?
