"Nothing but the breast"
is the title of a beautiful new poster produced collaboratively for the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative in Victoria (Australia), by the Victorian branches of NMAA (Nursing Mothers Association of Australia), ALCA (Aust Lactation Consultants Association) and ACMI (Aust College of Midwives).
The visual message of the poster is a sequence of three photos of a young baby taking the breast. The pictures capture that miraculous and harmonious act as the baby's mouth, eyes, and hand coordinate beautifully.
The written message on the poster is:
"The best for a baby is
exclusive breastfeeding for the first 4 to 6 months,
then the gradual addition of suitable nutritious foods,
while continuing to breastfeed until two years of age and beyond."
The background colour of the poster is a deep orange, and the baby photos are in a sepia tone.
The posters are to be given out free of charge. Please e-mail me separately if you want a copy. You would need to be prepared to make a donation to Baby Friendly Victoria to cover the cost of postage.
