Hi Tania and Liz and all

Liz you are correct; CLCA does not offer insurance to it's members but there
has been someone "looking into it" for a while. I know because I have sent
them at least 2 or 3 letters or emails over the last year or two. The Quebec
affliate does offer insurance but national body does not. We have a very
active local affiliate of about 40 members here in Ottawa but there aren't
enough people in private practice interested in insurance to make it an issue
for us. An Ontario group is in the process of forming right now but isn't in the
position to offer anything currently. If anyone from the national level (CLCA-
ACCL) is out there maybe we could hear about this issue - haven't seen
anything in the most recent newsletter......
Rates are skyhigh and practicing without insurance is probably not a good idea
though I know several people who are doing it!

I have been a member of ILCA (and just about every other professional org)
since before I certified and would love to see this as a benefit. Was one of
the things I was excited about when CLCA-ACCL and ILCA got "together"!

What are other Canadians doing?

thanks

beth
