Hello everyone. I already checked the archives, lots of info stating green
breastmilk is fine and related to ingested food or medications. One
referenced a possible connection to Serratia growth in the milk. My client
is nursing her 7 month old, we have been battling supply problems (she
stopped her one month run of reglan a couple weeks before the green milk
started, her supply problems were discussed here a few months ago). She
pumps after feeding and then she noticed "limeflesh" colored green milk
(bilaterally). She denies any diet changes and has not been eating any
green foods or vegetables, no medications. She drinks several cokes per day
and stopped that with no change. This has been ongoing for a couple weeks
now. The baby now has "chemical-smelling" dark brown-black stools and a
nasty diaper rash. I suggested she see her physician and discuss screening
for thyroid problems (poor milk supply/weight gain) and having her milk
cultured for Serratia. Mom (against my advice) stopped providing breastmilk
and is now pumping/dumping. Also, mom has a lump in one breast that is
becoming painful (has been present for awhile); the lump was ultrasounded
last week and mom is awaiting results. Any ideas, that I may have missed?
I am NOMAIL currently as I have gotten too far behind at work. PLEASE email
me with any help.
TIA,

Judy :-)
