Hello everyone, Happy New Year!
I am wondering if anyone has an up-to-date hospital policy that they would be willing to share, regarding a Hepatitis B carrier mom, and breastfeeding. Specifically, what happens immediately after delivery.
Our current hospital policy suggests that the first feed should be delayed until after the baby receives hepatitis B immune globulin.
I have the CDC information that it is safe to breastfeed immediately after birth, but am looking for existing hospital policies that we could borrow from, to update our policy.
Thanks in advance,
Doreen Vanderstoep, RN, IBCLC
