I found Jacquie's observation about the changed texture of breastmilk
thought provoking.   I was tandem feeding my eldest two children when I had
a bout of mastitis.  The eldest (31/2) wanted to know why my milk was so
hot!!!  That left me wondering about the effect of fever on a baby and if
the baby could become fussy because the milk was not at the expected
temperature.

This leaves me thinking that baby may fuss when the mum has mastitis because
of changes in flavour, texture and temperature.  So much of what we learn is
about inferrence.  It is interesting what the older child who is breastfed
can tell us about our milk.
