Dear all,

Today, while working on a text, I came across this quote:

“When a newly-born infant is removed from his mother’s uterus, for example, the baby can experience a loss of up to one degree Fahrenheit of body temperature, generally explained yet again by the production of stress hormones.”

Would you say that this amount of temperature loss is indeed what you see in your daily work?
I am in private practice and not a midwife, so I don’t know whether one degree Fahrenheit (or app. two degrees Celsius) is indeed what babies experience.
Your thoughts are welcome!

Bye,

Marianne Vanderveen IBCLC, Netherlands
