I recently sited Rubin in my thesis. Her work stands out as one of nursing's
greatest contributions to the field of perinatology. Her ideas of  "taking
in","taking hold" etc. are referred to by Kennell and Klaus repeatedly...in
their Doula research. To use her is not "dating oneself' it shows a firm grasp
of one of the classic theories behind what we do.
