So, sorry to have mis-posted. What an embarassing self-introduction to the
list. Here is the letter I attempted to post earlier.

Hello, this is my first post to lactnet after lurking and learning for quite
a while. Actually, I would have continued on lurking had I not stumbled upon
information which I did not read here. Mind you, this was told to me as told
to a friend (which techincally makes it hearsay).

I sent a copy of Jay Gordon's original post regarding the AAP book to a Dr.
friend of mine who is initiating and working on the baby friendly
accreditation at a local hospital. Today I saw him and he relayed the
following. He took a copy of Jay's post to his associate, a breastfeeding
advocate with 45 years experience as a pediatrition. This older Dr. called
his friends at the AAP who told him that they were dismayed at Ross' scooping
up of the book and affixing their label. He was told that the AAP had no
idea that Ross was going to do such. He was also told that in the future
Ross would be permitted to purchase books; but would not be permitted to
boldly display a label on the cover. Rather, they would be allowed to
discreetly include a small statement on the inside indicating that the book
was a gift from ross.

As my dr. friend told me this I told him of the lame form letter response (
read on lacnet) from the AAP. His response was that the truth was fine and
why would the AAP not tell the truth other than to maintain a relationship
with Ross?
