Had a LLL call yesterday and am curious for your views: Mom said her 3 week
old daughter has started making a clicking sound as she feeds. I know this
is usually associated with improper latch, tongue sucking, whatever. But on
questioning, baby is pooping and peeing all the time and Mom does not have
sore nipples; also baby seems to be feeding well because is not constantly
at the breast. I thought of possible cleft but mom assures me this is not
the case. Mom 'just doesn't want baby to get a bad habit'. I told Mom to
come see me this week if she wants so I can observe a feed. But - if all is
apparently well in terms of feeding, should we still try to fix the clicking?
