I thought that they used vegetable fats because of cholesteral (sp.) when it
became a big issue and everyone wanted to lower cholesteral rates, starting with
children's diets (cut out fast food, etc.).  I remember an article in a baby
magazine talking about how children need fat, the guy who wrote the article was
given a stern lecture by the ped. when they stated that their 1 yr. old was on a
low-fat, high fiber diet (only skim milk, and lots of veggies and whole grains).
