Just for the record, has anyone seen the new formula bags that are a black
backpack (Apparently I was ahead of the fashion curve on this one 4 years ago.).
Inside the bag is a breastfeeding video (where do they find these "experts?" I
noticed the so-called "LC" was not an IBCLC), some formula coupons, a booklet and
a large tin of powdered formula. But most galling is a little sheet on the OUTSIDE
that shows how to wean to bottle in 2 weeks. I was so galled when I saw this in my
peds' office that I JUST TOOK one when the nurse wasn't looking, figuring they had
at least 2 boxes' worth and were giving them away after all. I kept meaning to
send the whole package to INFACT, but I ended up showing it to our local
breastfeeding task force and asked the hospital-based LCs to find a way to get rid
of this insidious promo pack. I keep meaning to write to the peds' office, but I
don't think there is any point. After all, we've been twice for my daughter's
routine hearing and eye test, and each time they literally have to move boxes of
formula out of the way. They have so much they are out of storage space. And each
time I've been, you can be darn sure the rep is there, just dropping off more
samples and stopping to chat.
